Cologne-based property company Vivacon has announced the acquisition of a portfolio of 6,812 residential units in western Germany. The financial details of the transaction were not disclosed, but Vivacon said it was the largest acquisition in the company's history. The units are located in Bremen, Hesse, Lower Saxony, North Rhine-Westphalia and Schleswig-Holstein and provide a total rentable area of about 411,200 m[sup]2[/sup]. The occupancy rate is 85%.

Vivacon said its total portfolio of residential units comprises some 11,000 units. The number held in the first quarter of 2007 corresponds to almost 90% of the total units sold in 2006. The company said it expects to acquire 'further substantial residential real estate portfolios' in the near future.
