Vinci Airports, a subsidiary of Vinci Concessions, part of global construction giant Vinci, has acquired a majority stake in London's Gatwick Airport for £2.9 bn (€3.2 bn).
Vinci is acquiring the 50.1% stake in Gatwick, a freehold property airport, from current shareholders. The remaining 49.99% share will be managed by Global Infrastructure Partners (GIP).
'As Gatwick’s new industrial partner, Vinci Airports will support and encourage growth of traffic, operational efficiency and leverage its international expertise in the development of commercial activities to further improve passenger satisfaction and experience,' said Nicolas Notebaert, CEO of Vinci Concessions and president of Vinci Airports.
Vinci said it would partner with GIP in the management of the airport going forward. Gatwick becomes the largest single airport in Vinci Airports’ worldwide network.
