Europe's real estate industry should be playing a more active role in helping Chinese investors navigate the market, a leading lawyer has told PropertyEU.

Eric Liu, partner and attorney in law with Dentons, said Chinese investors were keen to put their capital into European markets, but struggled to make sense of the diverse range of assets on offer.

'The problem for the outgoing Chinese capital is that there's too much choice,' Liu said at Expo Real in Munich. 'It's hard to pick the good assets wisely. That could be a problem for them before they finally cut a deal.'

Liu said markets such as the US and Europe were attractive to China because of a shortage of availability in their domestic market. Events such as Expo Real could play a pivotal role in matching Asian capital to the European market.
