Belgian family-owned real estate owner and developer VGP has secured almost 175,000 m2 of land near Vejle, marking the initial step towards its first project in Denmark.
The company said it will now carry out the final site investigations and start looking for a tenant, before initiating construction. The future VGP Park in Vejle is planned to be certified according to the DGNB Gold criteria or equivalent.
‘The choice of Vejle is no coincidence,’ said Kristoffer Kaae Stimpel, country manager in Denmark. ‘With a location in the Triangle Region at Vejle S which offers direct access to the motorway, we have been able to secure a unique location in the heart of Denmark. The region has a strong production and logistics heritage and is increasingly a hub for entrepreneurs and companies engaged in the energy transition. We have great faith in the regional market as it appears, and we will develop a property project with full-scale services including photovoltaic panels, on-site car charging and all the desires a new tenant may have.’
Founder and CEO of VGP, Jan Van Geet sees great potential in Denmark and the firm is already looking at several other potential locations. 'The country is intrinsically a very interesting market for us to enter as it has a resilient economy, is a frontrunner in the digital and green transition, and benefits from an excellent infrastructure,' he said. 'Furthermore, we anticipate network effects with our existing tenants in other countries as we start offering this location in the heart of Europe to our broader existing tenant population.'
