Dutch listed property company Vastned received the first BREEAM In-Use certificate for a building in Germany at the Provada real estate fair in Amsterdam this week. This is the first time that an existing building has been certified under the BREEAM In-Use methodology.

At the presentation, Vastned board member Wim Fieggen said the value of the BREEAM certification was linked to the fact that it was awarded by a non-profit organisation. He added that Vastned is currently engaged in a BREEAM In-Use pilot project for 24 offices and retail properties in its portfolio. 'Engineering company Grontmij is advising us in this project and helping our organisation get onto the sustainability track,' he said.
