Portuguese real estate developer Vanguard Properties has kicked off the first phase of construction of a €200 mln residential development in Portugal.

Muda Reserve

Muda Reserve

Located in Muda, municipality of Grândola, Muda Reserve will be the first residential development in Portugal whose structures are 100% in wood.

The first eight houses in the development are the Chaminé Houses, which reinterpret the traditional Alentejo house, with the chimney as an inspirational reference.

Signed by the Saraiva+Associados architecture studio, the houses on two floors will have areas between 180 m2 and 300 m2, and include a private pool and garden.

Designed to be sustainable, the houses will be NZEB - Net Zero Carbon Buildings, with the structure entirely built in wood by wood construction company Kozowood, in which Vanguard Properties has invested €30 mln.

The project at Muda also foresees green spaces, commercial services, an area dedicated to sports and young people, including a playground.

Architect Francis Keré, winner of the Pritzker prize in 2022, will design a chapel for this development, open to the entire community.

The completion of these eight villas should take approximately 12 months.

After these eight villas are completed, Vanguard Properties will begin the second phase of construction of the development, with more than 80 homes designed by the architectural firm AO-LX.
