Valad, the European multi-let real estate investment manager, has announced the appointment of Robert Howe as head of UK real estate. He takes responsibility for Valad’s UK property investment and development businesses, and enhancing the efficiency of its UK real estate operations.

Howe was formerly Head of UK Investment for Valad, focussing on the group's UK fund and joint venture owned investment properties in the UK. The majority of Howe’s career was spent at Green Property where he was responsible for their northern operations and became a board director after the privatisation in 2001.

Howe will lead Valad's team of 18 portfolio and development managers working out of its three UK offices, in London, Edinburgh and Leeds, where it manages a number of JVs and portfolios across its funds, including V+ UK, VOF UK, DUKE, The Industrial Trust, University Capital Trust and The Advantage Property Income Trust. Collectively these portfolios comprise approximately 1.5 million m2 in the UK, across nearly 300 properties with 1,500 tenants.

This appointment comes as a result of Valad’s strategy to expand its EUR 5.1 bn investment management business across Europe and its focus on helping its investors and banking partners with their multi-jurisdictional, and often complex, portfolio needs. Over the next 12 months, Valad aims to use its established European platform to launch further funds.
