The scheme will see an obsolete production facility transformed into a next-generation sorting and distribution site for last mile logistics, complying with the latest building and environmental, social and governance (ESG) standards.

The site will include ample docking stations, high office fit-out and numerous electric vehicle charging facilities.

According to Urbz Capital managing partner and co-founder, Bram Verhoeven, plans to develop the site have been in place since last year and will result in a ‘state-of-the-art last mile hub with an intense focus on ESG’.

Construction work will kick off in the coming weeks with project completion expected in Q4 2022.

The developer has managed to fully let the 9,700 m2 facility even before the start of construction. One of the future tenants is Post NL, which has signed a long-term lease agreement to base its healthcare operations in The Netherlands.

The Dutch-based company was seeking a centrally located building in the Benelux that was in line with long-term sustainability plans, including CO2-neutral operations.

Said Dimitri Wams, director Logistics Solutions at PostNL: 'From a location, functionality and sustainability perspective this facility is a perfect match for our Healthcare operations. Furthermore the charging solutions Urbz is putting in place will help us to develop towards an emission free operation.'
