Leeds-based Urbanite Living has begun construction on a £33 mln (€38 mln) PBSA project in central Glasgow, UK.

Clyde Court

Clyde Court

Designed by NW Architects, the six-storey Clyde Court building will provide 169 studio rooms for students of the universities of Glasgow and Strathclyde.

The property on Jocelyn Square is centrally located, close to the River Clyde and adjacent to Glasgow Green.

Urbanite Living and main contractor Robertson Construction Central Scotland have already carried out a four-month site remediation program with enabling activities to prepare the site for development.

Shared facilities include two private dining kitchens, two social study rooms, a cinema, gym, breakout spaces with pool table and foosball table, and a bike store.

Adam Sadler, project director at Urbanite, said: "This project will help to regenerate an important strategic plot in the city of Glasgow, while delivering much-needed new residential accommodation. Glasgow is one of the UK's top university destinations with education space as well as student applications continuing to increase at a rapid pace. It is also one of the top two cities with the lowest privately-owned PBSA for the 2023/24 academic year. With the number of people studying in Glasgow set to rise to 1.75 million, there is currently nearly four students for every student bed in the city. Clyde Court will at least go some way to help alleviate that with uncompromising living spaces that are both sustainable and adaptable for the future, while also supporting the health and wellbeing of its occupants."

Student accommodation provider CRM Students will manage and operate the building.
