Spanish developer Urbania has announced the hire of Pestana Hotel Group’s former director Nuno Torcato to lead its expansion across Portugal.
Urbania said that it has opened an office in Lisbon to ‘give new impetus to its strategic business lines in Portugal, namely the development and management of plots of land, student residence projects and ‘build to rent’ assets’.
Nuno Torcato has more than 20 years of experience in the real estate and financial sector, having held positions of responsibility with KPMG, Banco Finantia, Banif Investment Bank, and PwC. He joins from Grupo Pestana, the largest Portuguese hotel chain.
‘The opening in Lisbon marks a new stage within the expansion plan of our company,’ said Jeffrey Sújar, managing partner at Urbania. ‘Portugal is, today, a strategic market for the growth of our firm in the Iberian market.’
Urbania is a real estate development, investment and project management company with a €1.2 bn portfolio and a 175 staff.
