Dutch postal delivery firm PostNL has struck a €150 mln sale-and-leaseback deal with local investor Urban Industrial for five postal sorting centres in leading cities in the Netherlands.
The transaction covers four domestic sorting centres in Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Zwolle and Den Bosch and an international facility in The Hague. It will generate a book profit of around €61 mln for PostNL and is aimed at strengthening the firm's balance sheet.
PostNL said the deal will enable it to speed up its digitalisation efforts as part of a wider transformation and is expected to close in November.
Urban Industrial focuses on acquiring and managing strategically located commercial property and has a portfolio of around 750,000 m2.
