Germany's Union Investment Real Estate has hired Martin Brühl FRICS to head the new international investment management department.
Brühl has a qualification in banking and a diploma in property valuation & finance. He will be responsible for managing Union Investment's real estate investments in the UK, the Americas and Asia.
As a long-standing managing partner at Cushman & Wakefield, Martin Brühl was in charge of the company's business operations in Germany and from 2007 was part of Cushman & Wakefield's European management team.
He currently holds the honorary office of global vice president of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS). From 2006 to 2010 he was a member of the board of directors at Metzler North America.
The appointment marks the completion of Union Investment's restructuring of its investment management activities.
Frank Billand is in charge of the division, which is divided into four areas: Europe, international, shopping centres, and hotels.
