The Russian affiliate of Unilever has signed a new lease agreement with private investor Marr Capital for the Marr Plaza business centre in Moscow. The consumer goods giant will use the property through 2020 as its headquarters in the Russian capital.
Unilever will be an anchor tenant in the business centre, occupying four out of nine floors in the new building, for a total of 9,355 m2. The Marr Plaza business centre, developed by Marr Capital and financed by Raiffeisen Bank, has a total leasable area of 21,900 m2. Jones Lang LaSalle acted for Unilever and S.A. Ricci King Sturge advised Marr Capital on the leasing deal.
'The move to the new office will allow us to get together not only employees of our Moscow headquarters but also those who work in our R&D department currently located at the premises of Unilever's Moscow Margarine Factory, as well as in Sales and Foodsolutions who are now located in their offices separately,' said Matthias Jost, Vice President HR at Unilever Rus.
'This transaction is an important milestone for the Moscow office market in 2009 and clearly demonstrates the positive dynamic that currently exists for tenants to secure their long-term real estate needs,' said Andrey Postnikov, European director and head of Corporate Solutions Group at JLL.
