Almere Centrum

Almere Centrum

Designed by world-famous architect and Pritzker Prize winner, Rem Koolhaas, the shopping centre is located in the centre of Almere, a fast growing city some 20 minutes from Amsterdam, serving a catchment area of 1.1 million people.

The 87,000 m2 mixed-use property consists of over 140 shops, in addition to a cinema, theatre, dining plaza, entertainment activities, housing and 1,588 parking spaces.

Originally acquired in 2002 and last refurbished in 2008, Almere Centrum features the BREEAM In-Use sustainability certification ‘Excellent’.

Closure is expected by the end of July and is subject to standard closing conditions.

With the sale of Almere Centrum, URW will have completed €2.7 bn of its planned €4 bn European divestment programme by the end of 2022.

This process includes the sale of non-core assets and the disposal of stakes to institutional investors, with URW receiving asset and property management fees.

URW owns and operates 84 shopping centres, including 53 flagships in the most dynamic cities in Europe and the United States.

Following the completion of the divestment process, URW will be a European pure play with a €41 bn portfolio of high-quality and well-located assets.
