The municipal authorities in the Spanish coastal town of Benidorm have approved the development of a new shopping centre to be built by Franco-Dutch property development group Unibail-Rodamco. The project consists of around 40,000 m[sup]2[/sup] of floor area including a large hypermarket and 2,200 parking spaces.

The project consists of around 40,000 m2 of floor area including a large hypermarket and 2,200 parking spaces.
Investment in the project is estimated to amount to around EUR 80 mln, with a further EUR 30 mln to be spent on a surrounding park. According to Spanish papers, Unibail-Rodamco acquired the land for a total of EUR 90 mln from Spanish businessman Enrique Ortiz.
