Unibail-Rodamco, Europe's largest listed property group, has unveiled plans to nearly double the size of its Centrum Chodov shopping centre in Prague.
The extension is one of the largest development projects in Central Europe this year. As part of the project, the shopping centre will increase its size by over two thirds, from 61,000 m2 at present up to 100,286 m2. Completion is expected for the autumn of 2017.
The centre’s annual footfall is expected to reach 16 million in the long term following the opening of the extension. The new scheme will count a total of 300 stores, the highest number of shops in a Czech shopping centre.
In the centre’s new extension, Inditex Group has signed new stores for seven of its iconic brands – Zara, Massimo Dutti, Bershka Pull & Bear and Stradivarius – together with the two new brands, Oysho and Zara Home. H&M group will also be taking a new flagship store of 3,000 m2.
Leisure will also have a key role in the newly refurbished centre. Centrum Chodov will introduce a state of the art multiplex 4DX cinema with 18 screens, as well as a total of 43 restaurants as part of UR's Dining Experience.
The car park will also have an additional 1,000 spaces, which will increase the capacity to 3,400 spaces.
