Unibail-Rodamco has sold three retail assets in the Netherlands for about EUR 156 mln. The buyer was Altera Vastgoed, a private real estate investment company based in the Netherlands. Altera announced on Monday that the main asset is the 17,000-m2 Sint Jorisplein shopping centre and its 460-space parking garage in Amersfoort. The other two assets sold by Unibail-Rodamco are the 9,000-m2 Arendshof mall and a 560-space garage in Oosterhout and several shop units comprising a total of 3,000 m2 in Schalkwijk, Haarlem.
Altera said the acquisition boosted the assets under management in its retail portfolio past the EUR 700 mln mark. Altera managing director René Hogenboom commented: 'The acquisition of the malls in Amersfoort and Oosterhout, in particular, fit into our strategy to increase the weight of the inner-city and main shopping area segment in our retail portfolio.'
The transaction also fits Unibail-Rodamco's strategy to dispose of smaller, non-core assets in the Netherlands to focus on dominant shopping centres in large urban areas across Europe.
