Unibail-Rodamco has acquired Splau shopping centre in Barcelona for EUR 189 mln. Europe's largest listed property company now owns three large shopping centres in the Spanish city.
The vendor of Splau was Spanish property company Acciona.
The 55,100 m2 GLA shopping centre is located in the south of Barcelona. Opened in May 2010, the shopping centre features 148 shops, a cinema and 2,800 parking spaces. It attracted 7.5 million visits in its first year of opening and is expected to attract 9 to ten million visits per annum in the coming years.
Unibail-Rodamco said the investment was a unique opportunity to acquire a large prime asset and to complement its portfolio of large malls in the Barcelona region. The company already owns La Maquinista and Glories in the city.
'With a financial vacancy of 15.8% at acquisition, the shopping centre benefits from a significant growth potential through the introduction of international premium retailers and an increase in tenants' sales,' Unibail-Rodamco said in a statement.
Unibail-Rodamco also confirmed it has completed disposals in Germany and the Netherlands.
The sale of its 50% stake in Allee-Center in tMagdeburg to Deutsche Euroshop was completed on Friday for a net disposal price of EUR 117 mln.
On 20 September, Unibail-Rodamco sold its Piazza Center shopping centre and offices in the Dutch city of Eindhoven for EUR 109 mln. The asset was acquired by a consortium comprising of Wijs & van Oostveen Vastgoed, TB Investments and Condo Inventures.
