Listed property giant Unibail-Rodamco has appointed Otto Ambagtsheer as its new managing director for the Benelux region, replacing John van Haaren who stepped down in early March after three-and-a-half years in the job.

Listed property giant Unibail-Rodamco has appointed Otto Ambagtsheer as its new managing director for the Benelux region, replacing John van Haaren who stepped down in early March after three-and-a-half years in the job.

Ambagtsheer will implement Unibail-Rodamco’s pipeline in The Netherlands and Belgium including two major projects, The Spring in Leidschendam-Voorburg, the Netherlands, and Mall of Europe in Brussels.

The Dutchman takes up his new role on 1 May, following more than 19 years with the Schiphol Group. During this period, he was commercial director of Brisbane Airport Corporation in Australia, director of real estate development at Schiphol Real Estate and lastly, managing director of business-area consumer products and services.

In this role, Ambagtsheer was responsible for all consumer-oriented commercial operations within Schiphol Group, including products and services such as retail, food and beverage, parking and e-commerce.
