The annual Urban Land Institute/PropertyEU Masterclass at the Provada property fair in Amsterdam next month will explore the role of hosting major international events like the Olympic Games in attracting public and private investment for urban development after the crisis.
The event, moderated by ULI Senior Fellow Greg Clark will examine topics such as why and how does an Olympic Games help to attract public and private investment into city development; the experience of Barcelona, Turin, and London (so far) in attracting public and private investment through the Olympics and whether Amsterdam should host the Olympic Games in 2028.
Among the experts taking part in the Masterclass are Corio CEO Gerard Groener; Brian Field, Urban Planning and Development adviser, European Investment Bank; Debra Mountford, senior policy analyst and manager, OECD LEED Programme and Andrew Altman, CEO of London Olympic Legacy Company.
Xavier Mayo, economic adviser to Barcelona City Council and Valentino Castellani, former mayor of Turin will discuss the experiences of hosting the 1992 and 2006 Games. Erik van der Kooij of Amsterdam City Council's Physical Planning Department will present the argument for how the Dutch capital could benefit from hosting the Olympics in 2028.
