The Urban Land Institute (ULI) Europe has announced four winners for its Awards for Excellence EMEA competition. They are: Citilab in Barcelona; Mumuth Music Theatre in Graz; Palazzo Tornobuoni in Florence and the new district Miasteczkzo Wilanow in Warsaw. The awards were announced on Monday at ULI Europe's Trends Conference in London.

The winners were selected from 14 finalists, all recognised as having demonstrated best practice in land use. Citilab in Barcelona is a centre for social digital innovation built on the site of a former textiles factory, Mumuth Music Theatre is part of a facility designed for the University of Music and Performing Arts in Graz; Palazzo Tornobuoni in Florence is a mixed-use project based on the renovation of a 15th century palazzo; and Miasteczkzo Wilanow is a new mixed-use district undergoing construction in Warsaw which already accommodates over 20,000 residents.

The annual awards recognize the full development process of a project, from construction through to economic viability, marketing and management as well as design.
