US multinational taxi group Uber has announced plans to move its European headquarters to a larger location on Amsterdam's Zuidas in 2022.

The company, which first settled in Amsterdam in 2012 in a building near the Amstel station, is moving to accommodate its growing staff which is expected to reach 3,000 people in the next two years, up from 400 three years ago.

The new office - known as Tripolis - is located between the city's Olympic Stadium and the A10 motorway. Once the head office of broadcaster Vedior and law firm De Brauw, the asset has been vacant for years and is currently being renovated by project developer Flow.

Uber will rent around 30,000 m2 of the 45,000 m2 of the new complex, which will also include a new office tower next to the existing complex. The investment amount was not disclosed.
