Tunstall Real Estate Asset Management, the pan-European alternative investment management firm, has appointed real estate and finance veteran Gerald Parkes as a senior advisor.
Parkes has nearly 40 years’ of property industry experience, having held senior positions and built several investment management businesses for blue-chip institutions in both the US and Europe. He has structured and led capital raises for both institutions and corporates, executed cross-border real estate investment management and finance transactions as well as investing in, and advising on, multiple development and income-backed projects.
Businesses he has led in Europe since 1990 include The Yarmouth Group (formerly Richard Ellis), Lendlease Investment Management Europe, Parkes and Company (for whom Teachers Insurance, DLJ Private Equity and Sainsbury were major clients), Invesco Europe to which he sold Parkes and Company, Lehman Private Equity Europe and Property Capital Partners Europe.
In addition, Parkes is a governor of the Urban Land Institute and former European chairman and former chairman of the advisory council to the real estate finance programme at his alma mater, the University of Cambridge. He is also an independent adviser to the major project review group for HM Cabinet.
