New Hires

Nick Ireland has joined Tritax as fund manager of AIPUT bringing significant industry experience, which includes 21-years at abrdn, most recently as head of core real estate.

He is joined by senior asset manager Dominic Moore, who brings 25+ years’ expertise, including as head of asset management and ESG at Clearbell Capital, and Eleanor Gumpel, who will be assistant fund manager across Tritax’s private markets capabilities, including AIPUT.

James Watson, partner at Tritax, said: 'We are delighted to welcome Nick as fund manager to AIPUT. His past experience with AIPUT at its inception and his breadth of industry knowledge make him the ideal candidate to take the fund forward.

'Dominic Moore and Eleanor Gumpel’s appointments demonstrate our focus as a business on managing properties which enhance both operational efficiency and social impact for our customers. These senior appointments demonstrate our ambitions for the future development and growth of this fund and our wider private markets offering.

'The team looks forward to continuing to work with our customers and dedicated team of consultants, aiming to grow income distributions through enhanced ESG performance and resiliency across the portfolio.'

AIPUT was launched in the UK by abrdn in 2005 and invests in supply chain assets that benefit from the growth opportunities created by airports and their vital role in the UK’s national infrastructure.

It was transferred to Tritax in July 2023 to capitalise on the group’s specialist supply chain expertise. This is two months after its appointment on behalf of a global investor to build a £500 mln (€578 mln) portfolio investing in high quality UK logistics assets. Across its products, the private markets team now* manages £1.5 bn AUM.

The AIPUT portfolio comprises 2.5 million ft2 (232,260 m2) of prime logistics assets on and around four international London airports: Heathrow, Gatwick, Stansted and Luton. Together, these airports represent one of the world’s busiest aviation markets.

Ireland has over 30 years of commercial property experience, with 21-years at abrdn, most recently as head of core real estate with responsibility for 28 funds with an AUM of £14 bn.

He has been the lead investment manager for a variety of different strategies, including AIPUT between its initial launch in 2005 and 2014, and has delivered consistent long-term outperformance in the funds he was responsible for.
