Tristan Capital Partners has outlined plans to expand its hotels investment strategy, hiring in specialist expertise with the appointment of Luc Boschmans as managing director of hospitality investments across Europe.
Boschmans will join Tristan’s hospitality team, reporting to Ali Otmar along with Kristian Smyth, executive director in the Investments team and Chris Kusuma, who joined Tristan in January 2021 as an associate director. He joins from Archer Hotel Capital (formerly Host Hotels & Resorts), where he spent a decade managing a pan-European luxury hotel portfolio and brings substantial operational hotel experience from companies including Hilton and Hyatt.
'Despite the current headwinds hotels are facing worldwide, we are optimistic about the recovery and long-term fundamentals in the industry,' commented Ali Otmar, deputy head of investments at Tristan Capital Partners. 'We believe that the sector offers valuable diversification benefits for our clients and with around €3 bn of combined fire power across both our core-plus and opportunistic fund series, we view the sector as a strategic long term opportunity for Tristan. '
Over the past few years Tristan has completed seven hotel investments. 'Our plan is to focus on the opportunities arising from the Covid-19 crisis this year as we work to establish Tristan as a long-term player in hospitality,' he said.
