The team behind the student housing portfolio managed by TPG Real Estate Partners (TREP) and Round Hill Capital have launched Home & Co, a new student living concept in Germany.
According to the venture, the new brand represents the next strategic step for the platform, following the initial acquisitions and successful stabilisation of the portfolio over the
past two years.
Under the Home & Co brand, TREP, Round Hill Capital, and company management will operate 15 properties, including more than 2600 units, in major cities across Germany.
The platform has been developed by TREP and Round Hill Capital in partnership with Round Hill Capital’s student operating platform, Nido Student.
Home & Co is led by Vincent Steigenberger, previously asset manager at Round Hill Capital, and Enis Bayik, previously responsible for Nido Student Germany. Round Hill Capital will continue to provide development management services to support both refurbishment and ground up development expansion.
Home & Co's locations – the first of which are expected to be fully operational by January of 2023 – will offer a mix of fully serviced apartments and community areas. The concept is also investing significantly in digital connectivity.
Said Steigenberger: 'As technology continues to impact the world around us, the places and ways we live need to evolve too, but without losing the aspects that make a house a home.
'We are launching the Home & Co brand in response to continued, growing demand for modern, flexible, and quality living. We are excited to continue partnering with TPG and Round Hill Capital to position Home & Co as a leading player in the European student housing market.'
The launch of the new brand comes at a time when demand for student housing across Germany continues to grow. According to a recent report by Savills, nearly 3 million students enrolled at German universities over the 2021-2022 winter semester.
'With Home & Co, we are striving to create a global lifestyle brand centred around community, connectivity, and quality,' added Bayik. 'We are excited to work with TPG and Round Hill Capital to continue to grow our platform and build a brand that reflects these values.'
