TK Maxx is to open a two-level store in Resolution Property's Carré Göttingen in Germany, PropertyEU has learned.
Resolution recently announced that it had secured a 'major international fashion retailer' for the inner-city shopping centre but did not name the new tenant. The retailer, the property investor said, is taking a long-term lease on 2,200 m2 divided over the ground and first floors.
Two existing Resolution tenants also signed leases: tegut. gute Lebensmittel for 2,400 m2 in the basement and Saturn for 3,300 m2 on the second and third floors. As part of the refurbishment and reconfiguration programme, the retailers will move into brand new modern retail units.
Resolution said the new lettings form part of a significant investment to transform the former department store into a modern, vibrant shopping centre.
Work will soon commence on the major refurbishment programme which will include a completely refurbished façade, a reconfigured centre and an increase in the number of shop units. The renovation will also include a revamp of the customer car park. The work is expected to be completed within 12 months but the centre will continue to trade throughout the building works and the car park will remain open throughout this period.
Resolution acquired the 14,200 m2 shopping centre in October 2012. The centre was first built in 1974 as a department store and converted into a shopping centre in 1987.
Resolution is working with Erwe Real Estate on the refurbishment and reconfiguration of the centre and Prime Real Estate Consulting as the leasing agent. Estama is the centre manager.
