TIAA Henderson Real Estate (TH Real Estate) has appointed two directors to its debt origination team.

Shawn Kaufman, former head of syndicated real estate and agency at RBS, has taken up the role of director of debt strategies – origination and syndication. He previously worked for Stonebridge Private Capital, where he was a partner, and Barclays Capital.

Christoph Wagner, who has been a director in the real estate debt team at BlackRock since 2012, will join TH Real Estate as director of debt strategies – origination and structuring on 25 July. Prior to joining BlackRock, Wagner held real estate debt positions at Barclays Capital, Morgan Stanley and McKinsey & Company.

Both new hires will report to Christian Janssen, head of debt, and will look after both the TIAA allocation to debt (excluding the US) via a separate account and an additional third party platform, which TH Real Estate will start marketing towards the end of the summer.
