Electric-car maker Tesla Motors is set to open its first Swedish store in Unibail-Rodamco's Täby Centrum in Stockhom.
The double-height shop front unit will be Tesla’s first permanent retail store in Sweden as it expands beyond the US. The move by the California-based company follows the successful trial of a pop-up shop in the centre.
The unit is situated in the southern extension of the mall with several other retailers, including Hugo Boss, Esprit, Filippa K and Ralph Lauren, which all signed recently and are due to open in the next two months. The opening of the Tesla store is planned for early June 2014.
Tesla Motors is a leading US designer, manufacturer and seller of electric cars. The vehicles cost between €54,700 for a basic model to €73,000 (excluding local taxes) for a top of the range Model S P85 Performance Plus. Tesla has sold more than 22,000 cars worldwide in 2013.
Täby Centrum opened its extension in August 2013. The new wing, to the south of the centre, is home to a 60 shops and restaurants. The shopping centre was also the chosen location for Apple's first store in Sweden in 2012.
