Telefonica's 1,800 employees in Germany are moving to a Munich skyscraper. The move is designed to unify the headquarters of Telefonica Deutschland and telecom company O2. The Spanish telecommunications giant acquired 02 in a EUR 24.2 bn takeover in early 2006. The headquaters move is to be completed by February 2007.

The new landmark building includes a 146-m tower that is Bavaria's tallest and most prominent office building. Located opposite the Olympic stadium on the Georg-Brauchle-Ring, the project is situated next to the Olympia shopping mall and offers four seven-story campus-style buildings next to the office tower. Previously the Munich office of Hines, the international real estate firm, last year the 50,700 m2 tower was sold to Singapore Investment for EUR 300 mln and leased to Telefonica, together with three of the four campus building comprising an area of 25,600 m2.
