Tapei city is represented for the first time ever at this year’s edition of EXPO REAL in a bid to attract international investors to the city, Li Yung-Cheng, deputy commissioner of the Department of Finance of Tapei City Government, told PropertyEU in an interview.

The government body, which is being advised in its marketing campaign by the Taiwanese branch of CBRE, is keen to lure retail developers in particular, Yung-Cheng said. ‘We believe European and Middle Eastern developers could help us enrich and diversify our cultural and real estate offering.’

The city authority is currently offering five land sites throughout the city, one of which is located a stone’s throw from the Taipei 101 tower, the second-largest skyscraper in the world. All five have a commercial designation, Yung-Cheng said. Taiwan has a population of 23 million, of which 2.6 million live in Taipei.
