Tag chairman Andreas Ibel said in a statement that the acquisition almost doubled Tag Gewerbeimmobilien's asset volume to around EUR 400 mln in preparation for converting it into a tax-friendly real estate investment trust (G-REIT). 'We plan to position Tag Gewerbeimmobilien in the German capital market and to continue on our growth trajectory in this way,' he said. 'With the planned REIT, we not only hold a stake in a tax-exempt subsidiary but will also continue to steadily increase our income from service business.'
Since 2006, Tag has been restructuring in anticipation of the introduction of G-REIT. The legislation came into force last April and was backdated retroactively to the beginning of the year.
