Stoneweg, the Switzerland-based company with €5 bn of AUM, is utilising its model of local operating teams to raise equity for a platform, by putting to work an initial €100 mln of investments in unique consumer experience assets in iconic global locations.
The firm already has seven investments it feels qualifies and has attracted €100 mln of equity so far in Spain, France and the US.
Three projects at the beginning are receiving €20 mln invested by Stoneweg – Paula Martorell, The America’s Cup Experience, and The Belbo Collection. The latter is a Mediterranean-themed casual dining concept across an initial five restaurants in Barcelona and Madrid city centre locations.
In a statement, Stonewegh explained the three initial investments were being made in conjunction with JV partners with specialist knowledge. It will further beef up the Places & Experiences team while the firm looks at a further four projects in the pipeline in Paris, Miami, and Barcelona, which will take the platform to €100 mln from Stoneweg and client capital.
It further explained: ‘Stoneweg will also continue to invest in individual projects separate to the platform as part of its broader commitment to creating unique leisure and cultural experiences with a strong social impact.’
In June, it announced a partnership with investment manager Teras Capital to develop a portfolio of waveparks across Europe. The first of these, alongside Atlético de Madrid football club, will see the development of Europe’s largest urban beach, featuring a world class surf park, in Madrid.’
Further projects will be announced. Having launched as a real estate investment company in 2017, Stoneweg has continued to diversify its product range to reflect the vision of its founders Jaume Sabater and Joaquin Castellvi, as well as growing client demand for multi-asset exposure.’
The company said: ‘This latest strategy has synergies with Stoneweg Hospitality, the company’s hotel investment arm, which has amassed portfolio of 1,692 rooms/keys across seven hotels in Spain since launching in 2021.’
