The appointments follow a strong period of growth since Stoneweg’s inception in 2015, the firm said.

Noted Jaume Sabater, CEO of Stoneweg: 'We are fortunate to have enjoyed impressive year on year growth since Stoneweg was launched in 2015. This is mainly due to the quality of our teams, at all levels.

'Strengthening our board of directors and hiring senior leaders is central to our focus on attracting and keeping the best people, enabling us to consolidate our strong foundations and ensure that we are delivering sustainable growth in the years ahead.'

The three new board directors include Simona Terranova, the founder of MT Finance, a Geneva-based company active in regulatory and risk management consulting. Terranova was previously director at PWC and subsequently partner at Deloitte, with more than 20 years’ experience in auditing.

The other directors include Clarence Peter, a lawyer and senior partner at Kellerhals Carrard, where he advises companies on commercial and corporate law, and Yvar Mentha, one of the partners of BRP (Bizzozero & Partners), a Swiss and cross-border regulatory consulting firm.

Alongside this, Mermod and Cerezo have been appointed as CFO and CIO of Stoneweg Group, effective immediately.

Based in Geneva, Mermod will be responsible for overseeing the group’s accounting and financial activities as well as the compliance aspects of the various regulations.

With more than 25 years’ experience, Mermod was previously a partner at KPMG Switzerland, where he oversaw the investment management sector for French speaking Switzerland.

Said Mermod: 'Stoneweg is an extremely dynamic company with a talented and motivated team and a wide range of activities/strategies with great potential for growth.

'I look forward to working with the rest of the senior leadership team as we embark on the next stage of the Group’s journey.'

Cerezo will be based in Madrid and be responsible for the development of the group's investment strategies, including through new discretionary mandates. He began his career at Barclays and subsequently worked for more than 15 years at M&G Investments.

Added Cerezo: 'Real estate investment as conceived by Stoneweg opens up new opportunities in a sector where imagination is often lacking. It is a chance for me to join a business that offers investors unique opportunities and innovative solutions.'
