Blackstone's St Modwen Logistics, a UK logistics developer and manager, has become a gold sponsor of a recruitment campaign aimed at attracting future talent into the logistics and transport sector.
Generation Logistics is an industry-led and government-backed campaign which aims to help change perceptions and increase the number of people applying for roles in logistics and transport going forwards.
As part of the partnership, St Modwen Logistics will be holding a jobs and careers fair at its newly completed warehouse in Gloucester on 8 November.
Polly Troughton, managing director at St. Modwen Logistics, said: 'The Generation Logistics campaign could not have come at a better time and we are incredibly excited and proud to be a partner.
'The industrial and logistics sector supports 3.8 million jobs yet many people are still unaware of the diverse nature of roles available.
'Over the last 10 years, jobs within the logistics part of the I&L sector have grown by 26% compared to only 14% across the economy as a whole and offer a range of career opportunities in data and automation, customer service, marketing and supply chain management, as well as more traditional warehouse roles.
'When I visit our customers, I am always amazed at the exciting things that happen within a warehouse and I would urge everyone from school-leavers, right through to those looking for a complete career change or new direction to come along to our jobs and careers fair and find out more about this exciting industry.'
Phil Roe, president of Logistics UK said: 'Generation Logistics has already started to change perceptions about logistics and will provide our industry with the capability to attract and retain the skilled and ambitious workforce which it needs.
'It is critical that we enhance our talent pool to keep our sector developing and thriving to support all sectors of the economy; Generation Logistics will give us the opportunity to do just that, by attracting and retaining the very best talent from across the country.
'We cannot do this without the support of St. Modwen Logistics and our sponsors, and we are delighted that to add them to our sponsor roster as we continue to change perceptions and encourage new employees into our sector.'
The event, running 12 noon through 5pm, will bring together other Generation Logistics sponsors and industry partners, as well as St. Modwen Logistics’ customers and local skills providers, to showcase the variety of roles available across the industry and the career paths on offer.
The event is open to the general public and welcomes everybody from school leavers and graduates right through to those contemplating a career change or looking to get back into work.
