The firm said it had been ramping up its industrial & logistics pipeline and capabilities in recent years, driving the formation of a dedicated business unit.

'St. Modwen has a rich history in developing commercial property, with industrial and logistics having become increasingly prominent,' said Joseland. 'Our further commitment to the sector through a dedicated business is a natural next step and brings together the skills and knowledge, regional strength and brand presence we’ve been growing over recent years.'

Alongside Joseland, Ian Romano has been appointed senior development director, David Binks as senior leasing director, and Richard Carter as senior construction director. The business unit will also continue to draw on St. Modwen’s teams across offices in London, Bristol, Birmingham and Warrington.

'Backed by our strategic objective to grow a significant industrial and logistics business we now have the structure and team in place to drive forward our plans,' said Mark Allan, chief executive of St. Modwen.

'Rupert is a highly experienced senior leader and, together with an expansive team of experts, is charged with harnessing St. Modwen’s industrial and logistics potential and further elevating our market position.'

St. Modwen has a committed pipeline of over 1.5 million ft2 in 2019, having delivered 1 million ft2 in 2018, and said it expected to commit to up to 2 million sq ft annually within the next two years.
