Finnish listed construction company SRV has won a €23.8 mln contract to build a 101-unit residential building in Verkkosaari, Helsinki.
The contract was awarded by the City of Helsinki’s Housing Production (ATT) and the rental units will be built for Helsingin kaupungin asunnot Oy.
Twenty units in two stairwells will be special apartments.
In addition to the residential units, the ground floor of the seven-storey building will house three sets of commercial premises and communal areas serving the special apartments.
The building is being constructed in Verkkosaari, one of the residential areas in Kalasatama where several housing sites are being built for rental, right-of-occupancy and ownership use.
Construction will begin in September and is currently scheduled for completion by summer 2025.
SRV’s Jorma Seppä, senior VP, housing, Helsinki metropolitan area, said: ‘This project is an excellent continuation to our other projects in the Kalasatama area, whose development SRV has been highly involved in. SRV’s housing production focuses on growth areas with excellent transport connections, and Kalasatama is another great example of this. In addition to our own housing production, we are implementing a variety of other housing projects, such as ARA-funded rental housing for the City of Helsinki.’
The project focuses on lifecycle-wise energy solutions and will be equipped with a geothermal system and solar panels.
