Spanish hotel chain Abba opened its first hotel in Germany on Wednesday, a four-star-plus establishment with 216 rooms in the centre of Berlin.

The Abba hotel group is said to have invested around EUR 50 mln in the property, which is situated on a 10,000 m2 site in the Wilmersdorf district. A 2,000 m2 office building is also planned on the site, while an existing 5,000 m2 office building will be refurbished.

The Abba group was established in 1999 and has a portfolio of around 30 three- and four-star hotels in Europe. Besides the latest opening in Germany, most hotels are located in Spain, with the remainder spread across France, the Netherlands and the UK.
