Spanish real estate assets company Healthcare Activos has acquired its fourth asset in Portugal, taking its total real estate investment in the country to €100 mln.
Opened in December 2022, the CUF Montijo building in the district of Setubal was acquired from Portuguese group Rockmont Properties for an undisclosed figure.
The 2,226 m2 CUF Montijo Clinic has more than 30 offices, of which 16 are for medical consultations, plus two exam rooms, two treatment rooms and laboratories, as well as a radiology area with magnetic resonance imaging, CAT scans or ultrasounds and mammograms.
The various medical and surgical specialties available include general and family medicine, pediatrics, gynecology/obstetrics, ophthalmology and dentistry.
The facility serves the Montijo region and the entire Setúbal Peninsula, including the neighbouring towns of Alcochete, Moita and Barreiro.
According to Healthcare Activos, ‘Portugal continues to have the right characteristics to extend the coverage of social and health services available to its population, in order to expand its private offer across the entire social and health spectrum.’
Healthcare Activos made its first purchase in Portugal in 2020, acquiring the hospital Trofa Saúde in Vila Real for an estimated €25 mln.
Last December, the company bought two more hospitals, one in Lisbon and another in Coimbra, from FSG Saúde, the real estate fund management company of insurer Fidelidade.
Healthcare Activos, which is 49.4% owned by the Abu Dhabi sovereign wealth fund, has acquired more than 60 hospitals, clinics and senior healthcare residences valued at over €850 mln.
