London-based developer Southern Grove has received the green light for a £75 mln (€95 mln) residential and retail scheme called the Appleton, at 104 Broadway in London's West Ealing.

Permission has been granted for the former retail site to be redeveloped to provide 136 flats, along with 1,500 m2 of new shop frontage.

The acquisition of the 0.27 hectares site was funded in partnership with Topland Group, led by Sol Zakay, while GL Hearn advised Southern Grove on planning.

Southern Grove’s CEO Andrew Southern said the company 'is currently in a very acquisitive phase', courting investors and boosting its war-chest via a number of opportunistic sales. Last month it sold the former Lobo meat factory in the Old Kent Road regeneration zone to Family Mosaic, where a pre-application was submitted to Southwark Council for the redevelopment of the site into 69 residential units.

Stirling Ackroyd and JLL advised on the sale.

Southern Grove also recently announced a residential joint venture with Hurlington and Bmor, and unveiled plans to build a £40 mln waterside residential scheme in Hayes, West London.
