Pantheon Plaza, a new shopping and leisure centre developed in partnership by Sonae Sierra and Rockspring Property Investment Managers, opens its doors to the public in the central Greek town of Larissa on Thursday.

Sonae Sierra and Rockspring developed the scheme on behalf of its client, PanEuropean Property Limited Partnership. The project represents a total investment of EUR 76mln and creates 900 jobs on the opening of the centre.

Comprising 27,000 m2 of gross lettable area, Pantheon Plaza will be the largest shopping and leisure centre in the Thessaly region of Greece and will have a view of Mount Olympus. The centre features 110 shops, with both national and international brands. H&M, Promod, Mikyazy and Footlocker will be opening stores in Larissa for the first time. The centre also has a three-screen cinema and parking for 1,500 vehicles.

Sonae Sierra, the Portuguese shopping centre specialist, said it expects Pantheon Plaza, Sierra's second mall in Greece, will attract up to five million visitors in the first year of operation. 'Pantheon Plaza signals a vital step in our development in the Greek market and proves our strong engagement in the growth of sustainable projects throughout the country,' Sonae Sierra's CEO Alvaro Portela said.

The project has implemented an Environmental Management System to ISO 14001 standards that allows the site under construction to evaluate, control and minimise its environmental impact.
