Standard Life Investments and its joint venture partner Helical Poland are launching a 75,000 m2 shopping centre and retail park in the Upper Silesia region of Poland.
The €150 mln development, known as Europa Centralna, is located in Gliwice and comprises a covered shopping centre with food court and adjoining retail park. The scheme opened 90% let.
Standard Life Investments has invested in Europa Centralna on behalf of a private client. SLI said the shopping centre attracted more than 30,000 shoppers on the opening day.
Separately, SLI said it has entered Denmark with the acquisition of a 7,579 m2 retail and office building in central Copenhagen on behalf of a segregated institutional client. Saxo Properties, a Danish investment and asset manager, initiated the deal. Financial details were not disclosed.
Known as Absalons Gaard, the building is on the edge of Copenhagen’s Strøget - one of Europe’s longest pedestrianised streets. SLI plans to reconfigure and refurbish the existing building to create around 3,439 m2 of new retail space and 3,970 m2 of offices.
The company said it plans to re-market and re-let both the retail and office space. Saxo Properties will deliver the refurbishment programme and undertake the ongoing property management of the building.
