Standard Life Investments (SLI) has bought the new offices of online travel firm Booking.com in central Amsterdam for around €23 mln.
The building on Rembrandtplein with a leasable area of 5,271 m2 was acquired from De Nedstede Group after being renovated and refurbished for Booking.com, who took up occupancy last April.
Law firm Loyens and Loeff advised the purchaser, while the vendor was advised by Fort Advocaten.
SLI, the asset management vehicle of UK insurer Standard Life, has concentrated on the European market for the last year, which it believes will outperform the UK and American markets over the next three years.
The company entered the Dutch market last year with the purchase of the ExtraVerde building in The Hague and the headquarters of Bluewater Energy in Hoofddorp, the latter for €32 mln. More recent acquisitions include Heerema Marine Contractors in Leiden for €60 mln in December and a 28,000 m2 logistics facility in Venlo, Limburg, in June for an undisclosed fee.
