A commercial scheme built by Skanska in Prague is the first office property in central and eastern Europe to be awarded WELL Core & Shell certification.
Named Visionary, the prime office building, located in central Prague, is owned by Austrian property firm CA Immo. The project comprises 22,500 m2 of space and is fully let to blue-chip clients.
The project achieved LEED Platinum certification shortly after its completion in 2018, becoming the greenest office building in the CEE region.
Adrian Karczewicz, Skanska’s head of divestments at commercial development central eastern Europe, said: ‘We are proud that Skanska delivered the first WELL-certified building in the region. From a business perspective, a WELL-certified workplace provides significant advantages for both its tenants and investors alike.
‘It has a positive impact on employees performance and therefore on the overall performance of their employer as well. Plus, tenants are keener to stay for longer, and the building itself is more likely to retain its value over an extended period of time. WELL-certified buildings are a truly future-proof investment, and consequently, WELL certification will become a must on the commercial real estate market over the coming years.’
The certificate recognises the scheme for features such as access to greenery, plenty of natural daylight, lighting systems which complement body rhythms, gyms and more. The eight WELL categories include air, water, light, nourishment, fitness, comfort, mind and innovation.
Skanka's new head office scheme in Warsaw, dubbed Spark, has already received WELL Commercial Interior certification for its office space and is expected to receive a Core & Shell Certificate shortly, the firm said.
