Swedish construction and real estate group Skanska is to develop and build a new 16,000 m[sup]2[/sup] police station in Toftanas in northeastern Malmo, Sweden. Skanska's investment in the project amounts to about SEK 300mln (EUR 32mln).

Swedish construction and real estate group Skanska is to develop and build a new 16,000 m2 police station in Toftanas in northeastern Malmo, Sweden. Skanska's investment in the project amounts to about SEK 300mln (EUR 32mln).

Skanska announced on Monday that it has signed a 25-year lease with the police authorities in the southern Swedish province of Skane for the facility. The new building will comprise 9,000 m2 of office space and about 7,000 m2 for fitness, workshop, garage and other facilities. Construction will be carried out by Skanska Sweden.

The project will start in the third quarter of 2008 and is scheduled to be completed in the second quarter of 2010.

Skanska has developed facilities for the police in Vaxjo, Uppsala and other locations.
