Swedish construction company Skanska is to develop and construct a new housing scheme in Gothenburg. The company purchased the land and building rights from Diligentia and said its total investment in the land and project development will amount to EUR 48 mln (SEK 450 mln). The residential project will provide 180 apartments of varying sizes and will be one of the first 3D properties to be registered in Gothenburg. 3D means that a property can be divided up into different areas of use with different owners.

Construction work is due to start in the winter of 2008/2009 with sales scheduled to commence in spring 2008, the company said. Occupancy is scheduled for spring 2010.

The development will comprise three buildings from three to nine floors high and is being built with a parking deck on the bottom level. The project is part of a wider refurbishment of Frölunda Torg in Gothenburg.

Skanska Residential Development Nordic will initiate and develop the residential area for apartment buildings and single-family houses. The unit develops about 4,200 new homes per year. The business unit has approximately 400 employees in four countries: Sweden, Finland, Norway and Denmark.
