The UK arm of Swedish property and construction giant Skanska said on Monday that it has divested the Bentley Works site in Doncaster, UK, to the company’s UK pension scheme, for £16.5 mln (€21 mln).
Bentley Works – Skanska’s northern UK hub – is being redeveloped and will accommodate employees from across the business.
Redevelopment work on the site is due to be completed in May 2015.
The operation is Skanska UK’s first deep green project and incorporates many environmental features, such as solar shading and rainwater harvesting.
'Divesting the project to our UK pension scheme means that the long-term future for Bentley Works is very positive, for those employees based on site, for the UK pension fund and also for the environment,' said managing director Andreas Lindelof.
