Global construction giant Skanska has sold the new district court building it is developing in Borås, southwest Sweden to its joint partner on the scheme Vacse for about SEK 320 mln (€28 mln).
Construction is scheduled to start this month on the property, which will have 13 court rooms, of which two are security rooms.
The total premises will comprise approximately 5,100 m2, distributed over five floors. The building will feature solar panels on the roof, while recycled red brick will be used for the façade.
An external fixed sun protection reduces the need for heating and cooling. The project has prioritised construction solutions and material choices that reduce its environmental and climate footprint.
The intention is to environmentally certify the building according to the international environmental certification BREEAM's highest level, outstanding.
Skanska and Vacse have jointly developed the building, which will be fully transferred to Vasce in 2025 when the Swedish Courts Administration moves in.
Vacse focuses on properties with public tenants. The company is owned by seven pension foundations linked to major Swedish companies, among them Skanska.
