Nordic construction giant Skanska has inked a deal with KOy Apron to construct a new hotel at Helsinki Airport in Finland for €86 mln.
The 700-room property, which is being developed by LAK Real Estate Oy, will be the largest hotel in Finland totalling around 37,800 m2. It will have five restaurants, spa, gym, and services for meetings and conferences.
The building is expected to receive a LEED Gold certification and will be operated by Nordic Choice Hotels.
Construction starts in the beginning of October 2021, with the project scheduled for completion by the end of the first quarter of 2024.
Skanska has operations in building construction and civil engineering in Sweden, Norway and Finland, and develops residential and commercial property projects in select home markets.
The firm's commercial development stream is also active in Denmark. Skanska registered sales of about SEK 66 bn (€6.5 bn) and had about 14,800 employees across its Nordic operations during 2020.
