Skanska has started onsite construction of a 12,500-m[sup]2[/sup] office and retail project in the Swedish city of Uppsala. The Uppsala Entré project is being developed and constructed by Skanska Sweden for an estimated investment of SEK 300 mln (EUR 31 mln).

The scheme will comprise 9,000 m2 of office space and 3,500 m2 of retail space. Long leases have been signed with Municipality of Uppsala for 7,200 m2 of office space and with supermarket group Coop for a large store. Occupancy in scheduled for spring 2012.
Skanska aims to secure gold-level certification in accordance with the LEED sustainability for the office space. Energy consumption will be 25% lower than the Swedish National Board of Housing, Building and Planning's norms, as required for EU GreenBuilding labelling.
Skanska Residential Development Nordic is planning a residential project with 96 apartments in a later phase of Uppsala Entré.
